Just Finished Watching CNN

And happened to catch an interview with Steven Harper. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering my Prime Minister's name, because I have been abroad so long and think American politics is more important, but after this interview I think his name took a ride on my synapses. The man, whom I often mix up with Paul Martin - Isn't Paul Martin the Prime Minister of Canada, lol? - did a Furlong Colony 1 tour de force. In the same interview he said the American military can not beat the insurgents in Afghanistan and should withdraw after installing a new government (why? because Afghannis will fight against any invading foreign political system) and he said the government SHOULD be stimulating the economy during the present crisis. He said he is not usually a "keynesianist", which is weird, because he basically defined himself as one by stating that "in this situation" the American government should stimulate the government by spending. Keynesianism, after all, came into vogue as a result of the Great Depression. It is a reactionary economic position of which the default position is free market capitalism. Wow. Just wow. Just goes to show you that politicians who are conservatives in Canada are left-of-center democrats in the States. That, or he is just toeing the line.
