Margaritaville

South Park apparently understands that a majority of economic activity is consumption. Now, if we could just get the Austrian school wackos to understand.

I'll watch the clip later and critique it; I know I've seen the episode before and it completely mocks everything the government is doing to "save" the economy.

Anyhow, I thought you're anti-south park now?

Not really. It clearly mocks those who think we should stop spending, but does point out that people are in too much debt to spend. Watch it again, obviously you watched it with your blinders on.

This clip is also a clear mocking of the banks as the central problem.

The bit with the government officials is a clear statement that the government doesn't not know how to solve the crisis and is complicit in the deregulation.

The only clear message this episode provides is that the government is completely inept.

Other than that, the only other thing you can pull from it is that too much debt is bad and excessive frugality is bad. In reality, because demand is infinite, excessive frugality is not something we should worry about, although excessive debt, and a system that enables excessive debt, is.

Yes, and between frugality and debt is consumption. You see, not stupid.

Exactly, duh.
