Reliable figures on abortion in Tanzania are hard to come by, but the World Health Organization reports that its region, Eastern Africa, has the world’s second-highest rate of unsafe abortions (only South America is higher). And Africa as a whole has the highest proportion of teenagers — 25 percent — among women having unsafe abortions... more.
But hey, guys, but the woman and the fetus are separate! The woman has a right to life and the fetus has the right to life! If so, I suggest that all fetuses be truly separated from their mothers in the first week by cesarean section! Then we shall see just how much of a right to life a fetus has!

Why are you highlighting the unsafe abortions given in these countries?
Do you think its possible that they are experiencing other unsafe surgeries? Do you think its possible some of the living conditions of these people are unsafe?
What does women having unsafe abortions in these poor countries have to do with the perspective that life starts at conception and should be protected from there forward?
Abortion is illegal in Tanzania, Josh. The abortions are all done by amateurs, in alley ways or at hidden, moving clinics.
If life starts at conception, then the fetus can be separated from the mother, grow up by itself, and then get a job. Fetuses are individuals and therefore can act as such.
A baby can't grow up by itself.
Nor can a fetus.
So life doesn't start until you're....which arbitrary age would you like to pick?
It is not arbitrary at all. When the fetus separates from the woman, it becomes a person.
Why?
Because personhood assumes individuality. A fetus is not an individual and is hence not a person.
Why is a fetus not a person and a baby is?
The baby is separated from the mother.
Why is this significant?
Because that is when the contradiction of right ends.. when the fetus is no longer dependent on the SELF-CONSCIOUS mother.
A baby is dependent on a self-conscious mother (or other being)
But the baby is not connected to the mother. The baby is a person that the mother and maybe the greater family has chosen to keep, to bring into the world.
That's retarded. The connection to the mother is simply the means through which the baby survives. Because the "means" change doesn't change the fact that the baby is just as much alive before birth and after birth.
Nope. The fetus always dies before viability. Why? Because the fetus fundamentally connected to the mother before birth.
That which is not a person does not have rights. That's why we call it "individual rights".
What do you mean the fetus always dies before viability?
I include the machine in viability as well.
Sorry, what do you mean by viability?
Viability means the ability of a fetus to live beyond the womb in a machine and hence become a person.
So, you're saying if a fetus can be removed from the womb and kept alive through alternative means, aborting that fetus should then be considered a violent crime because that fetus should be considered a person because its life is now "viable"?
"So, you're saying if a fetus can be removed from the womb and kept alive through alternative means, aborting that fetus should then be considered a violent crime because that fetus should be considered a person because its life is now "viable"?"
I think it is the choice of the mother, because she is the one who will have to take care of the child, but, yes, if there is some sort of emergency or she wants to abort I'm sure the Church or the homes of the pro-lifers will be open for the baby to grow up. Then the state can stabilize the fetus into a child and the people who are racist, fascists who have no problem killing self-conscious life can open up their wallets and build a national orphanage system... oh, wait, those same people are against state-run socialism and will not take random babies into their homes... hypocrites...
The point of the ramble of above was to underline the fact that it always comes down to the choice of the mother, because the mother is the self-conscious being who carries or doesn't carry the fetus to term. It is ALWAYS her choice. The pro-life people are actually not pro-life, or they would be the biggest socialists in the world. They would be opening up their houses to the unwanted children of Africa. But they are not. The pro-life movement is actually the pro-soul movement and pro-responsiblity movement packaged in different language. They are the movement of hate and hypocrisy that has characterized the Christian faith right from the beginning.
