Fields of Unspat!

I went with the New Zealanders and South Africans to photograph them playing rugby today and discovered, *drumroll*, that Gumi has GRASS! Lots of GRASS! Fields of green! Fields of unspat upon grass! Fields of unurinated upon grass! A paradise of grass! Clean, green, and soft! Roll-in-able.


But in Asia, more than not, there is another layer, a catch as we might say: the grass is only available for use in late August or early September, after the farmers have cut and bailed the grass as feed for cows. The grass only lasts about two or three months before winter.


Apparently none of the farmers have thought of charging for the use of the fields after they finish, because scores of golfers and rugby players use it for practice. An amiable symbiosis and layering of purpose, but surprising nonetheless, because everything here in South Korea seems to be capitalized on, bought and sold. Maybe the farmers are just being nice. Who knows.
